Illinois CASA: Navigating Challenging Conversations About Diversity
In this training, themes of diversity and culture are explored. The speaker, Kendra Abercrombie, discusses how diversity is what makes individuals unique and goes beyond what we typically think of. Kendra then discusses how culture is formed and how it adds to the identity of individuals. These concepts are then used to create a foundation to be able to have difficult conversations about diversity. Microaggressions are explained to help understand and notice when these aggressions occur. Having a previous understanding of implicit bias in general and personal implicit bias is not required, but could be beneficial before watching this video to fully understand how to facilitate difficult conversations.
