Topic: Practical Tips for Identifying and Eliminating Volunteer Bias in CASA Advocacy
When working a case, there are many opportunities for our values, opinions on parenting styles, economic expectations, and other biases to creep into our work. How does a Volunteer Coordinator ensure that volunteers’ personal beliefs or biases are not evident in their court reports and interactions with parties on a case? We will review and discuss common red flags and practical ways staff who manage volunteers can “filter out” bias in CASA advocacy.
