The Role of DCBS in the Court Process
Session 2 of the Relationships Matter in Child Welfare Virtual Series. This session will provide information about the role of various child welfare workers and attorneys throughout the court process, including the role of County Attorneys and the Cabinet for Health and Family’s Office of Legal Services. This session will clarify the Department of Community Based Services’ (DCBS) referral process, such as the role of DCBS in a private petition and court orders for a DCBS referral when criteria is not met. The session will also include insight on Planned Permanent Living Arrangement (PPLA) goals and when that goal is appropriate. This series was developed as a collaboration between the Kentucky Court of Justice and the Department for Community Based Services within the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
